My motivation

Why I'm fundraising

I’m fundraising in aid of Cancer Research UK

My mum lost both of her parents to cancer. She lost her mum while most of her siblings were still teenagers, and her father when I was a baby. I never got to know my grandparents, and I want to raise money in their memory.

I have also lost other members of my extended family to cancer, while fortunately seeing people close to me survive it. Experiencing both sides has shown me not only the devastating impact cancer can have on individuals and families, but also the difference that treatment and continued research can make.

I'm raising at least £750 for Cancer Research UK in honour of the family and loved ones I have lost, as well as all those around me who have been affected by cancer. I hope that raising money for research can contribute towards improving outcomes for others in the future.

The Great North Run will be the final major challenge of this campaign, but I plan to raise money through a number of activities along the way.

Great North Run 2026

I completed the 2026 Great North Run with my mum. In 2027, I'll return to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

BEGINNING NOVEMBER 2026

Three Peaks Series

Beginning in November, I plan to complete the National Three Peaks across separate challenges, with different friends and family members joining me for each mountain.

Bake sales & fundraising events

I plan to organise bake sales and other fundraising activities during the year, with proceeds contributing towards my Cancer Research UK fundraising target.

Great North Run 2027

I'll return to the Great North Run with a charity place for Cancer Research UK, completing the half marathon as the main event of my fundraising campaign.

I'm continuing to develop new fundraising ideas throughout the year. I'm considering sponsored walks, charity football matches and other ways to involve friends, family and colleagues. I'll update this page as activities are confirmed.
